Position Summary

A Design Engineer at VS Engineering will independently lead design tasks for a variety of infrastructure projects in our Indianapolis, IN office. Our Indianapolis Office is the headquarters for VS Engineering and boasts our largest Transportation, Water Resources, and Structural teams. Our local staff includes a wide variety of experience levels with expertise in city, county, DOT and INDOT work projects for local cities, counties, and the State.

A Typical Day May Include

• Leading project design calculations/reports/planning preparation/roadway modeling
• Assisting office leadership in the preparation of proposal documents and preliminary project evaluations
• Developing peer network with staff at other firms and public agencies to enhance personal and firm relationships during project coordination efforts
• Coordinating project tasks and reporting to project manager and supervisory staff to assist in budget, schedule, and project status tracking
• Supporting Indianapolis and regional offices on a variety of infrastructure projects

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
• Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training in Indiana
• Experience designing transportation projects
• Registered Professional Engineer in IN or KY or OH
• 7+ years' experience is designing transportation infrastructure projects
• 3+ years' experience managing projects and leading project teams
• Background working on public sector design projects like INDOT/ODOT, county, and municipal design projects, etc.
• Background working on INDOT, county, and municipal transportation design projects
• Technical knowledge/ computer skills:
  • ACAD Civil 3D/ MicroStation Bentley Open Roads Designer
  • Drainage software including StormCAD and CDSS
  • Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Adobe
